Exchange Block

Adaptive reuse in the heart of downtown Portland.

From top to bottom, Exchange Block transforms the public spaces in Portland’s largest contiguous office block. The design incisions unlocks the building’s potential by amenitizing unused space.

The building lobby was reconfigured using sculptural planter and seating elements to create pockets of gathering and reprieve at the ground floor. A field of pendant lights connect entries to one another and contain the height of the space.

The rooftop was redesigned into a penthouse with an expansive exterior terrace. The curation of planters with FF&E provides useable space with uninterrupted views of the city.
