West of West wins Small Lots Private Land Funding Initiative
From the Press Release
As part of the ongoing Small Lots, Big Impacts initiative, cityLAB-UCLA,
LA4LA, and Genesis LA announced in April a new opportunity to build missing middle homeownership projects on small parcels of privately owned land. These medium-density residential buildings—such as duplexes, fourplexes, and townhome communities— gently densify and blend into single-family neighborhoods. After receiving 30 submissions to the Request for Information (RFI), today the selection committee is proud to announce the three winning teams (listed below) as well as a bench of eight additional teams with strong design and development experience. Collectively, this cohort of exceptional housing organizations are uniquely qualified to lead L.A.’s missing middle revolution. If more funding becomes available, the organizers may engage with teams on the bench or reopen the RFI process to support additional missing middle projects.
The winning teams are:
- Holos Communities and Assemblage Works
- Six Peak Capital, Frolic Community, West of West, and Aero Collective
- Stayner Architects
